Note: Hardy's is closing soon. They hope to find another location.
- Traditional, old-school hamburger joint/diner.
- Many burgers to choose from and you can get a veggie patty with any of them.
- Hardy's burger (the basic burger): Tasty, well-prepared and constructed. No frills, just a good burger. Nice bun.
- Tots: solid rendition of a popular side.
- Grilled cheese sandwich (on the kids menu): OK but very buttery (aka greasy). You get two made with burger bun sized bread.
Nice, friendly service. The Bend way. -

Ohhhh my gosh! We were sooo looking forward to eating here! The reviews - everywhere - made it look so nifty! And now that we've eaten there, we don't understand how they could have a "loyal following" (as advertised on Visit Bend). It seems like a "try it once, leave disappointed, and never go back" kinda place.
Best place in town to get a burger? No. No (insert favorite x-rated explicative) way! It's not even a handmade patty. It's small. Very small. It looks like a dinky little frozen patty that's been bought at the cheapest restaurant supply vender they could find. The burger is flavorless and was overcooked. The bun - total "Meh" - I've bought grocery store buns that were nicer.
Hot wings. In an order, there were only 2 drumsticks, the rest were wings. They were drowning in sauce. It was like hot wing soup. And the chicken meat was dry!
The soda machine was on the fritz and there's a "special way" to get it to give you water... oh boy. We struggled with it and then watched as people after us struggled with it.
There's not a lot of parking nor is there a lot of seating. If you sit outside, you're right on 3rd - enjoy the noise, the fumes & dust.
And, it's expensive. Too expensive. They charge you for everything. Wings... want blue cheese with them? You get charged for it. You want celery with that? You get charged for it. You want fries with your burger? That's extra. Nothing is included - steep prices and it's all a la carte. You don't leave there thinking you've gotten your money's worth or that it's a value.
Staff - also very "meh". We told them it was our first time & we were excited - we asked for recommendations - we were friendly. No recommendations, no excitement, nothing. -

You know what, I like these guys. They have the greatest people working the front counter, couldn't be nicer. I'm not sure that's the point, but it's worth mentioning. Top that with a great quality product and you've got yourself and pretty darn good restaurant.
The menu is pretty extensive, they've mastered the many things you can do with a hamburger. Today I had the jalapeño and pepper jack, plus I added pickles. You can do whatever you want of course, but they have several selections off the menu of great combinations of toppings. Add onion rings, or tots and I consider this to be an all around victory.
The one thing I haven't tried is the ice cream. But they have malts which I love, so that's next on my list of things to try. They also promote their wings with different sauces and different levels of spice, I've seen them, but not had them. They look like they are with a try.
Nice people, great product. Thumbs up! -

This place has been a staple in Bend since 2005. Kids birthdays, graduations, various life milestones, all celebrated here. Their menu is simple: burgers and wings with a smattering of shrimp basket & fish and chips. Their wings have every taste profile covered: hot, sweet, savory & tangy. Got a buddy who's a spice weenie? Fine - he'll get the mild heat. Got a buddy who wears asbestos underwear? Choose "freakin' hot" for him.
There are a few more things on the menu: Shakes and Malt'ed, fries and onion rings. But you won't find any truffle oil here. Just good old-fashioned all American diner food. -

Update:
After eating here for a few more months, based on the wings itself, I'm bumping to 5. Obvoiusly wings aren't the only thing they serve but they do it well. The sauce is actually super delicious, tangy, buttery, and spicy. There's considerably less oil breakage. Wings, if eaten straight away, are crispy and hot, and are a good size.
Price wise, I wish they were a bit cheaper, but I seem to keep coming back. Also, the guys who work there are super nice, they are super accomodating (because I'm pretty picky about my wings) and always make me feel welcome. I would say my only complaint is that I have had some instances where I call or look online and they are closed. I think that's only happened once or twice however. And they are closed Mondays. Otherwise, I will keep coming back!
